On you mark…get set… GO! This past Saturday morning my friends and I participated in the 4th year 5K. After heading to bed relatively early on Friday night, we set out alarms for 7:30, geared up in our 5K running shirts and pinned on the race number. The crowds gathered near the University’s books store before the race started. After announcements were made the race began right around 8:00…and we were off! The course took runners up Alderman road and around local C’ville neighborhoods before heading back to the Newcomb finish. The 4th year winners were announced and Bodos, Starbucks coffee, and waters were offered for all!

There are many 5K's offered on Saturday mornings in Charlottesville. Just check this website out (http://charlottesvilletrackclub.org/calendar/index.html) if you are interested in an upcoming event... or perhaps you want to start training now and have a race to look forward to in a few months! I encourage all of my readers to pick a weekend that fits into your calendar and take the chance to run a 5K in C'ville! I know I will be doing another one again soon!!
