November 11th 2010.... Happy Veterans Day to all of my readers! This official American holiday was first declared by President Woodrow Wilson in November of 1919 when he stated: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with lots of pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations."
My grandfather, Dale Myers...( aka Dadoo!) |
Today, around the University of Virginia grounds, flags were placed around the Lawn to commemorate those who have served and fought for the United States armed forces. Several ROTC students tabled on the Lawn in uniform to remind students of the significance of the day and its importance!
I encourage you to thank your friends and relatives who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces... I know I have a call to make!
Have a Thrilling Thursday... and check back soon.
