Summer Night at Montalto

The other weekend Easton Events had a rehearsal dinner at Montalto. With beautiful weather, a fun wedding party, and jaw dropping view the night was a huge success!

Chef Dean Maupin from Keswick Hall cooked up a fab dinner of summer dishes..including lobster rolls and gazpacho. Tabletop center pieces were decorated by Pat's Floral Designs and furniture and linens came from Festive Fare. It was a wonderful combination of C'ville vendors!

Cocktail music was played for all by Peter Richardson's Trio. I love this one of Rex!

Montalto, being a part of Monticello, has many similar Jeffersonian features. I loved the architectural design of the space.

Thank you Eric Kelley for these awesome awesome awesome photos!

Local Decor

Hydrangeas are all over Charlottesville this summer. Pinks, blues, greens, you name it...we got it!

This afternoon I stepped out into Easton's backyard and picked a few for the office!

What better than having the room decorated with local goods! We looked fresh and smelled sweet for our meeting this afternoon.

Cookin' corn

I have so many fun things to blog about, but I am STILL without computer! Through a little bit of pushing and pulling I have been able to maneuver my way around the system... but it's slow and grueling, thus seldom blog posts and minimal pictures. I will be back!

I have managed to obtain these images of corn cooking however! The other night some friends and I watched the UVA Baseball game and grilled corn. To be honest I was more into the corn then the game... but that's another story.

It was so easy and fun: simply shuck corn, rub on olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, place on hot grill. We checked on the corn every few minutes and when one side was golden brown/burnt we flipped each piece... tongs not even necessary since there was so much husk to grab!

Once the corn was grilled on the outside we wrapped each piece in aluminum foil and let them slow cook for about ten more minutes. Simply perfection! Oh... and the game was fun too!

Cookout Season

Tonight my friends and I are heading out Barracks Road for a cookout! It's pretty hot out there, but hopefully as the sun sets and the clouds roll in the night will be cool and pleasant. Since I still (sigh) don't have personal pictures to share I made another inspiration collage that made me think of summer nights and fresh colorful things!

at a loss....

For the past two weeks I have been without a computer. The other weekend it crashed and we took it the shop today... finally! I have not enjoyed being without a space to download my pictures, but it has given me more time to surf the web and find fun images from numerous websites. Enjoy the little collage I made... I had so much fun!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday... and check back soon

Fingers crossed for a soon to be working computer!

First Friday's of June

The other night Anna and I headed Downtown for the celebration of First Fridays! What a wonderful night to spend walking from gallery to gallery. We hit the McGuffey Center followed by The Garage and concluded our tour at a tiny little gallery know as Bozart.

The crowd was larger than normal... and I am sure it was due to the warm and pleasant night! This First Fridays also had a special twist, for it was the premiering night for LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph. The festival features exhibits, artist talks, outdoor screenings, and other exciting activities Running from June 9th until June 11th, the initial photographs were first shown this Friday as part of the First Fridays celebration.

Along with the photographs, we had the chance to see paintings, sculptures, collages, and other artistic endeavours throughout the early evening. One painting I loved was created through an image of The Downtown Mall. What fun inspiration!

It was especially fun to see Matt Kleberg's artwork! I can remember being a second year at UVA and going with my best friend to one of his shows at Para Coffee. It was so exciting to see his art in the McGuffey Art Center this past Friday. I love his style of painting and most of  all the creative portraits he constructs... these pieces express personality, emotion, and character. Check out his site

One of the best things about First Fridays is the ability to see the individual artists working space. By having the opportunity to enter into their gallery spaces, we- the outsiders, get a glimpse of their daily routines and working lives.

After taking our small art gallery tour, Anna and I headed to Fridays after Five at the Pavillion. We bought Sweet Frogs and sat on the hill, enjoying the nice night and fun company!

happy happy weekend

Yesterday, while doing the typical blog surfing in bed before hitting the hay, I came across this awesome image on a wedding blog and became SO excited. Look closely... do you see something that makes you think of Charlottesville? What a lovely set up captured by the wedding photographer. I love the slices of wood acting as a stand and the printed brown paper bags in the background. Very rustic with calming browns and hints of evergreen.

On another note... It's Friday!

What a wonderful feeling...I am looking forward to doing lots of fun C'ville things this weekend, and I hope you are too. Here are a few of my suggestions for this beautiful weekend!

Coffee from the Farmers Market

Peach and strawberry picking

Hiking to a swimming hole

Dinner at The Local

Parachute live at the Jefferson Theater

Sounds like a great day to me!

Have a Fantastic Friday and FUN Weekend... and check back soon!
